Rupantara- The Emergence of LGBT Voice

This project was done with my college Srishti School of Art, Design & Technology, Bangalore in collaboration with an American organization, known as ‘The Beehive Collective’ in December 2014.
It was a part of the course
‘Story-telling like a Super-Organism: Mural-making in the Style of the “Beehive Collective’.
Despite the endless oppression and injustice faced by The LGBT community, their spirit has remained strong and unwavering. They have built an all-encompassing community much like a bountiful tree spreading its branches far and wide. Through this initiative we aim at being a contributing voice to the
Pride groups that have been ignored and talked against with no empathy.
Our interactions with a lot of the people gave us insights to better understand the subject.

Rupantara or Metamorphosis is a representation of the plight of this minority group and the years of
distress they have gone through. At the same time, it portrays hope as their
undying spirit inspires us to understand the greater meaning of life, freedom and joy.
Using stories and symbols as metaphors, we’ve created this portable mural.
